End of the Spear

A friend reminded me about movie which is coming out tomorrow called End of the Spear. It is about the ministry and death of Jim Elliot and the other men with him and about the subsequent events that occured in the tribe they pursued. The website about the movie is very good, and it's exciting to read about how they made the movie and that it really seems to be true to what happened.

If you visit the site, you can view a trailer, read about the making of the movie and much more. I found local show times at
http://movies.yahoo.com.

My hope is that the movie would glorify God and testify to the amazing work of His grace in the lives of sinners.

INcredible!

Many of you know I enjoy photography. A friend pointed me to a website, Gigapxl Project, which details a photo study using custom-built Gigapxl™ cameras. Apparently, the images contain one billion pixels each and can be enlarged significantly while retaining substantial detail. Each image in the gallery shows a progression of enlargment. I particluarly enjoyed the photos of Pittsburgh and the Grand Canyon. In the latter, look how the image can be zoomed in on the people whom you can barely see in the original image! It's incredible!

There are many photos to choose from in the gallery. Amazing!

God's Wisdom

"He is mighty in strength and wisdom." Job 36:5

The below excerpts from Knowing God (J.I. Packer) are excellent references to God's wisdom:
"Wisdom without power would be pathetic, a broken reed; power without widsom would be merely frightening; but in God boundless wisdom and endless power are united, and this makes Him utterly worthy of our fullest trust." (p 81)

"God's widsom is not, and never was, pledged to keep a fallen world happy, or to make ungodliness comfortable. Not even to Christians has He promised a trouble-free life; rather the reverse. He has other ends in view for life in this world than simply to make it easy for everyone." (p. 81)

"We should not, therefore, be too taken aback when unexpected and upsetting and discouraging things happen to us now. What do they mean? Why, simply that God in His wisdom means to make something of us which we have not attained yet, and is dealing with us accordingly." (p. 86)
