Ode to my flute......

......or not; I don't really write odes.

BUT, I listed my old flute on eBay tonight to sell it. I played a couple notes to see how it sounds, and it made me sad to be selling it! But I haven't played it since high school. Has that happened to anyone else? I guess it just reminds me of my childhood, like I am selling part of it. If you could only see the home videos of my shrill rendition of the love song from Out of Africa. If only you could have been there. And then I brought out my piccolo....now that was something. But Reader, it's not good to live in the land of "If Only", so let go of the hope of seeing those videos. Ever.

Keep the flute! You will be old some day and enjoy the link to that young delightful high schooler. Get rid of old magazines and unattached items, not something such as a musical instrument which brings joy. Auntie Chris

I agree with your aunt! I would never part with my flute! I have so many memeories associated with it. lus, we can form a flute duo!!! WE can play all over Pittsburgh and gain recognition for our beautiful playing!

My parents bought me a trumpet in high school that I used every day until I graduated. Then came college and the guitar. I haven't looked back.

But I've kept the trumpet. I don't keep it as a sign of "I remember when" or what ifs, but there could be a chance I play it again (though not at church like I used to in my PCA days), but I also hope my children will use it too....well, maybe not Hannah, but maybe Josh Jr. Who knows.

Instruments are good to have around anyway. Even if you barely remember how to play them, they can be good stress relievers. (in other words, I agree with your relatives. KEEP IT!)

Sorry everyone. I sold it. I wasn't attached to this particular flute as I payed a different one for the three years of junior high. I stopped playing shortly after getting this newer one.

If for some reason the winning bidder doesn't pay me for it, I might hold on to it.
